A Corporate Gift That Says More Than Words Could Ever Say

In the recent corporate environment where the issue of a rewarding system has been the commonly debated topic, corporate gifting has become the latest trend to crop up in the corporate world. These corporate companies present unique corporate gifts to clients, employees and business associates. During corporate parties or conferences, clients or business associates are sometimes invited to celebrate the company’s recent success or maybe an organization can arrange a party with its employees to appreciate their hard work and perseverance. Corporate gifting has become quite popular and recognized in private sector since they act as a successful tool for doing business promotions. It helps in fulfilling the role of the goodwill ambassador for a company. When a company presents unique corporate gifts to its clients or business associates, they not only present well designed products but also show their taste for perfection. Here are examples of unique Corporate Gifts that can be given out; Silver or Gold Fortune cookie which is designed to tell the company’s corporate fortune. It usually has hinged backings with a personalized message inside each one. Another unique gift that can be presented to the clients is a classic dollar paper weight that will show your employees and clients a fabulous corporate gift that has meaning i. e. knowledge is power and many more gifts. But when a company presents cheap corporate gifts to its clients, their image is being tainted. The clients might feel disappointed since they believe that everybody can afford the cheap gift. Another great idea is the issuing of gift items which have the corporate logo imprinted onto them. It is a great way to reinforce the company’s brand and make clients, customers and employees feel appreciated. Corporate logo gift is also a better way of marketing the company since most employees always love to have products with their companies logo imprinted on them  for example; a cup with a company logo. The corporate gift ideas are always on demand since there are always corporate events carried out where these gifts can be given out. It is important to know the importance of the event being celebrated so as to attract the clients and make them have a repeat business by offering them personalized and unique gifts so that those clients will always want to know where you got the gifts. During holiday seasons such as Labor Day, Christmas holiday, Easter holidays or New Year’s parties, the company should present to its client, employees or business associate holiday corporate gifts, by doing this the employees and other clients will feel that they are also part of the company and this will motivate them and make them to be more loyal customers and workers of the company. Example of Holiday corporate gifts that can be given out are; Glitter snowflake ornament because it is believed that all is glitter around the holidays, a Holiday tree Snow Globe Bottle Stopper which will wow all your employees. This is a clever gift to give to all your corporate contacts with a nice holiday wish for all.

Learn More About The Changing Face Of The Music Industry

The face of music has always been changing, from the days of Mozart to Buddy Holly there has only been one constant factor remaining consistent throughout the centuries, the music industry is a commercial medium. The musical revolutionaries of the 60s might well disagree however even at that point people were buying records and labels were making millions.
This is more true than ever in this day and age, where musical instruments have been replaced by grinding women in bikinis, low riding Cadillacs and more bling than you can shake a stick. The changing face of music is not only in the image and artists but also in the musical equipment used to produce and distribute music.
Musical piracy as it is being called, is dominating the music industry and there are two schools of thought on it. One being that of the music industry and the law who understand the illegal sharing and distribution of music as copyright infringement, the other being the people who believe that music should be free to everyone, however it is not clear how they are suggesting that the Cadillacs and bling are going to be financed.
This has come due to the massive technological advances in the last decade in the field of musical technology. The face of music has changed due to the accessibility of musical production and distribution. You can now at a click access your favourite music legally and free of charge via various video hosting sites and it is a massive form of marketing now.
Production takes place in many a bedroom and have become very accessible to those with very little musical knowledge due to the relatively simple midi based software packages that have saturated the market. These have made music production much more accessible than previously and with many global forums you can share your music and potentially distribute it with great ease.
The digital age has rendered other formats almost obsolete. As the CD killed off the cassette in one foul swoop, CD is now on the edge of extinction being replaced by an array of audio files. The death of CDs has been slower than the predeceasing format, this might be accounted for because the retailers buying from the music industry still need to sell products and there has been no next generation product that can be bought over the counter to replace CDs.
The retailers are encouraging people to buy CDs and then rip them onto their iPod or MP3 players. It is thought that CDs will stick around for a while. The greatest surviving format has to be vinyl which is still massively popular with DJs around the globe. This again is under attack by products such as the Tonium Pacemaker, which is the size of a Nintendo DS, however holds 120gig, about 3000 hours work of music.

Why You Should Base Half of Your Decisions on Facts and the Other Half on Reality

Lies, sweet lies. How much we love them and what ridiculous price we are willing to pay for them! “Men should avoid the distractions of pretense and delusion,” wrote German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer in the year 1842. “Impossible expectations disconnected from reality always result in disappointment and sorrow. ” Learning to see the truth is seldom easy and never without cost, but a sharp vision of the world and a clear mind bring man unlimited rewards. Conformity is a bank from which you can borrow short-term convenience after you have secured repayment by means of a mortgage on your soul. By willingly ignoring facts, we often place ourselves in a fog of ignorance, increasing our likelihood of making expensive mistakes and creating dangerous inconsistencies in our actions. Consider these five examples: 1. - UNHEALTHY FOOD: Despite being aware of long-term negative effects of some foods, we keep on consuming them in the illusion that, somehow, we alone will be immune to the consequences. 2. - DECAYING WORK ENVIRONMENT: We close our eyes to signs of decline in the company we work for, often for years, in order to avoid the nuisance of searching alternative employment or the risk of starting our own business. 3. - WRONG RELATIONSHIPS: We ignore major character flaws and attribute non-existent virtues to someone we find sexually attractive in order to justify an unsustainable choice. 4. - UNRELIABLE FRIENDS: We avoid confronting breach of trust to avoid rocking the boat, preferring to hang around people who do not deserve our friendship instead of making the effort to seek further. 5. - UNSOUND INVESTMENTS: We trust prodigious assurances of reckless money-managers and place our savings at great risk without giving it another thought. Everybody makes mistakes and, when it comes to learning, there is no substitute for experience. However, if we wish to minimize errors, few habits are as effective as standing still from time to time, questioning aspects that look too good to be true, and checking the consistency of our logic. “Only an unclouded vision of reality allows man to perceive truth,” observed Schopenhauer. “Decisions based on facts render individuals self-supporting, which is the key to happiness. ” History shows that prejudice and conformity block progress more frequently than ignorance. In our age, we tend to forget to which extent the acquisition of knowledge is dependent on moral courage. Let us restate at every opportunity our right to discard facts that don’t match. Only by allowing reason to thrive will we keep civilization alive. JOHN VESPASIAN writes about rational living. He has resided in New York, Madrid, Paris, and Munich. Auto Car Dealers

  At this time auto car dealers are having a credit crunch too, after a few years of booming car sales, the financial market is hurting them badly.   New car sales at auto car dealers are at the lowest point since 1966, we have just had the new 58 registration number plate out and it is rare to see one. This downturn will have a dramatic effect on the used car market too.   There is a rumour going round that one of the largest auto car dealers is in financial trouble. With new car sales being down, used car prices going into freefall, then taking into account recent acquisitions of new premises over the last year, money spent on making the business even larger with the debts involved is coming back with disaster written all over it.   It won’t be alone, auto car dealers are not the only ones in trouble, when recession hits and spending is frozen by a struggling populace, car servicing takes a back seat and you can’t blame people for that. It may in many cases prove a false economy but there we go.   At the moment it is the same as in the property market, it is a buyer’s market and auto car dealers are very aware of it, as a buyer you don’t have to wait for the end of the month to get the best deals, any time will do.   If you are fortunate enough to be able to buy your new or used car from an auto car dealer, you will find yourself spoilt for choice and if you stay strong in the bartering bit you can surprise even yourself with the savings, extras, you can achieve.   But for auto car dealers therein lies the problem, not nearly enough of us are in the market for a new or used car, manufactures have created a problem for themselves, thank goodness I might add, it is this: Cars made over the last 10 years or so are very, very reliable, so in buyer’s terms, if it ain’t broke, why change it?   Like many industries at this credit crunch time, auto car dealers are right in the thick of it, jobs might be lost or saved in the ‘city’, but jobs will only be lost in this area, car makers have already laid workers off, down numbered the number of shifts, slowed, even stalled production on some vehicles, it is a worrying time for far too many families.   It is not just here in the UK, this is affecting auto car dealers, manufacturers globally, production is grinding to a halt, knock on effect means less replacement parts and so on. I take no pleasure in stating it is all too much doom and gloom at the moment, it will get better but not for a long while yet.   In my next article I will turn to jollier matters, in the meantime though, when driving, short distance or long, please, please, please wear your seat belt.

How Just-in-time Thinking Can Destroy Your Life

Exaggeration and over-generalization are common logical mistakes. This is why, to a good extent, we have grown insensitive to them. The human mind is naturally inclined to analyse facts, look for patterns, identify common causes, and draw conclusions to be used in the future. This is how knowledge is acquired and expanded. Even when facts are insufficient to sustain complex logical connections, our thirst for certainty can lead us to exaggerate and over-generalize. Logical errors do not base their appeal on evidence, but on man’s desire to control his environment and predict the future. The problem with inconsistent ideas is that they don’t work. * Every minute that you devote to arguing in favour of a logical error is a wasted minute. * Every time that someone tries to implement it in real life, waste will be the likely result. “Pursuing the impossible is the wrong kind of ambition,” wrote Emperor Marcus Aurelius in his Meditations in the year 176 C. E. “Unfortunately, such attempt is common to many men. ” Just-in-time production techniques are widespread in Japan. Since their introduction 50 years ago, just-in-time principles have greatly contributed to reducing the cost and increasing the quality of complex industrial products such as motor vehicles. In our days, this philosophy enjoys universal popularity amongst managers and has become a central subject of study in business schools around the world. Running a factory according to just-in-time principles involves six steps: 1. Determine which features customers want in a product. 2. Identify the steps that are necessary to manufacture that product. 3. Eliminate any steps that are not needed. 4. Ensure that each step is performed at a constant speed (just in time). 5. Avoid over-production and under-production at each step. 6. Maintain process stability by allocating sufficient resources to each step. Just-in-time thinking has proven highly effective in car manufacturing under conditions of growing market demand and stable consumer preferences. Nevertheless, its positive results in that area cannot not be taken as a success guarantee under all conditions. That would constitute a case of exaggeration and over-generalization. Assuming that what is true under certain circumstances has universal application can lead us to mistakes in other areas. As it frequently happens, reality shows us a more complex truth: * DEVELOPING A VISION IS A KEY ENTREPRENEURIAL FUNCTION. Human behaviour cannot be mathematically predicted. Surveys of consumer preferences have proven repeatedly ineffectual. No success formula is written in stone. Determining what new products should look like is a key entrepreneurial decision. * ASSESSING MARKETS IS PART OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP. Process regularity and employment stability are highly desirable, but markets often disrupt the best intentions. There is no way to predict with certainty how many products will be sold and at which price. Assessing the strength of consumer demand is an essential task of the entrepreneur. * ENTREPRENEURS DETECT MARKET CHANGES. Constant production speed (just-in-time) is not an end in itself. Consumers always have the final say. Determining which production and delivery speed suit markets best is a fundamental entrepreneurial decision. Despite its extraordinary contribution to enhancing quality and productivity, the just-in-time approach cannot replace the role played by entrepreneurs. “When the eye looks at the world, it wants to perceive every colour,” observed Marcus Aurelius two thousand years ago. “When the mind looks at reality, it should be open to perceiving all circumstances. ” Look at reality with your own eyes, assess where the best opportunities lie, and decide which course of action you should follow. No formula and no ritual can replace the entrepreneurial mind of the individual. JOHN VESPASIAN writes about rational living. He has resided in New York, Madrid, Paris, and Munich. Franchisor Consultants Give 5 Tips For Improving Relationships With Franchisees

If you are the VP of Marketing, the Director of Marketing, or the marketing manager for a large franchise organization, let me just say that I know your pain. From my experience working with franchisor organizations, the biggest potential source of pain for internal marketing gurus like you also happens to be potentially your biggest leverage point for improving sales: the relationships you have with your franchisees. The value of strong franchisor-franchisee relationships cannot be overemphasized. This is because the franchisees collectively hold in their hands a great portion of the responsibility for the success of the organization. In short, it is important to the health of the organization that they are well-supported! Improving the relationship between franchisor marketing staff and the franchisees whom they support is not just a matter of having good people skills (although that doesn’t hurt!). At its essence, it boils down to an issue of how smooth and efficient are the information and approval flows between you. The bottom line: your marketing staff holds not only information that the franchisee needs, but also the ability to say “go” on key initiatives and requests from the franchisees. And, I have found that there are certain tasks that are actually better to hand off to the decision-making authority of the franchisees (if done properly), resulting in less aggravation and better revenues for all involved. Drawing upon the collective wisdom I have garnered from working directly with multiple franchisor consultants and heads of marketing at franchisor companies, here I offer you 5 tips for improving your relationships with your franchisees: Tip #1: Standardize your message formatting, style and frequency: Overwhelmed by e-mails and phone calls from frenzied franchisees? It may be time to streamline your communications with them. Here’s how to get started: first, categorize the top 5-10 reasons franchisees regularly contact your team. Next, determine which of these could be reduced or avoided completely if you were to improve how you communicate with them. The more consistent you are with your message format (e. g. , e-mails, letters), message style (i. e. , the writing quality and style with which you present the information), and frequency (i. e. , when and how often you send out certain types of messages), the more clear the information will become to franchisees - and the less often they will be contacting you with follow-up questions. Tip #2: Use the KISS principle when creating and rolling out new marketing programs: The KISS principle (Keep it Simple, Stupid) is a wonderful guideline for getting anything done, especially when it requires getting others motivated and on board! When rolling out new programs, make the rules, processes and procedures exceedingly clear. Minimize potentially confusing elements like unnecessarily complicated procedures, and write everything down in terms of what the franchisee should do (and by when). Charts and diagrams can also be a huge help! Your goal should be that 95% of franchisees will receive your communications and be fully-informed without needing to contact you again with questions. Tip #3: Pre-approve all promotional materials for no-hassle administration and better brand control: One of the biggest headaches that franchisor marketing managers grapple with is having to constantly approve a huge range of different promotional materials from different franchisees. Varying font sizes, different shades of red (or green or blue!), disparate offers and even different types of messaging. Approving and/or requesting changes to all of these materials, even if you have a solid style guide in effect, can be maddening and time-consuming for all involved. Instead, create a set of pre-approved materials (postcards, brochures, mailers, in-store displays, banners) and make them available for franchisees to order. If you do, you will eliminate completely the need to field even one more call or e-mail about approving new materials from overly “creative” franchisees. Tip #4: Unify all branding and direct mail efforts by using a single ordering system: Direct mail is one of the most powerful tools that franchisees have to promote their businesses. When executed correctly, direct mail is sent only to those prospects most likely to respond. However, putting together an effective mail campaign can prove to be too much for the average franchisee. Questions about how to source a good list, what type of customers to target, and what creative to use can be overwhelming for the typical franchisee. Instead, do everyone in your organization a favor and offer your users a single direct mail online ordering system. Franchisees can run live list counts, customize the creative with their own store address info and choice of offer, and place the order. No hassle, no headaches - and no calling the corporate marketing office for advice. Tip #5: Help your franchisees analyze their marketing results to keep them abreast of program effectiveness: One of the best value-added services that the corporate marketing office can offer franchisees in support of their marketing efforts is direct mail response analysis and other customer analytics programs. Most franchisees do not have the ability to accurately scan coupon barcodes, analyze data and then determine whether their recent marketing efforts were a boom or a bust. Also, by aggregating such analyses across multiple locations, your office can look for macro patterns and then share the results with all franchisees. Franchisees can be your biggest source of pain - potentially your best friends. The secret to making it a successful relationship is to simplify your communication, make it easier for them to make good marketing decisions, and offer value-added services. If you do, everyone stands to benefit with a better quality of life at work - and better revenues for the organization!

Everyday You Can Build a Little Higher

Few things in life are worth more than perspective. Overcharged agendas can push us to a point where we begin to lose direction. As management tool, planning is highly overrated. As personal philosophy, time management will just keep you sedated. In periods of low unemployment, when people burned out, doctors used to recommend taking a long vacation. Getting away from everything was considered the ideal means to regain perspective and figure out what is important in life. Holidays are great, but physical distance for its own sake is a solution that seldom works. Run away from problems and they will catch up with you at night. Try to forget about reality and you will soon experience a loss of vitality. The truth is that, to gain perspective, human beings don’t require physical distance. The result from exotic travel, mental estrangement, won’t render our agendas less inconsistent. Peace of mind can be based only on clear ideas and definite objectives. Orientation comes from definition. Safety arises from prevention. Self-confidence is built on balance. Of course, the problems lie on the opposite side. Fear is made of images that we can’t erase. Stress is the certainty of living in a mess, while longing for magic solutions that we don’t possess. It is time for a turnaround: 1. - FROM INEFFICIENT TO DISSIDENT: Most things that we do everyday are routines. How many of those are tuned to serving our long-term objectives? Imagine what you would do if you knew the precise day of your death. Go ahead and fix the date yourself, for instance, your ninetieth birthday. Count the time that you have left, review your major priorities, and decide how many hours you can afford to waste on non-essential tasks. One thousand? One hundred? What about zero? Become a non-conformist in the way you allocate your time. Drop everything that is leading you away from your goals. 2. - FROM UNNERVING TO RESILIENT: On the other hand, you still have lots of time left. There is still plenty that you can achieve, irrespective of difficulties and contingencies. Put your impatience aside and work confidently towards your goals. With a sharp vision and calm persistence, you will be able to reach most objectives on your list. In the worst periods, perspective will feed your resilience; in the best times, your brilliance. Physical distance and psychological tricks are not the way to gain perspective. Don’t allow time management to fill your life with empty commitments. Walking too fast won’t do. Walking too slow brings nothing but woe. Let go of excess baggage and advance on your chosen path with serenity. Forget about fashions and rediscover your true desire. Remember that everyday, you can build a little higher. JOHN VESPASIAN writes about rational living. He has resided in New York, Madrid, Paris, and Munich. Fuel Alternatives and Energy Sources

Fuel Alternatives, the 20th century has built itself mostly around energy produced from nonrenewable sources with harmful emissions, presently much of the world uses oil/gas and nuclear power, and (a renewable source) hydroelectric for power production. In the 1970s, the price of fossil fuels, rose considerably inspiring governments to seek more oil, this solved the problem temporarily now in 21st Century, with the cost of fossil fuels rising higher still, it has sent many of the larger oil companies scurrying to the oil sands project in Alberta. Where there is a plentiful yet hard to get to supply of energy in the form of Bitumen, however with the high carbon emissions from this project. It is hardly a viable option environmentally, with the the high cost of oil and our realization that its carbon emissions cause global warming, this drives consumers and inventors towards renewable energy resources, many areas are being investigated. Fuel Alternative solutions include
* Hydrogen
* Wind
* Garbage
* Geothermal
* Solar
* Tidal
Hydrogen water power is mostly being considered in vehicles, contrary to earlier research it is possible to harness the power of water in various ways, one being separating hydrogen and oxygen atoms and putting them back together to produce energy, this has already been put in action and used in successfully in engines. The Oceans power is being harnessed, by various companies investigating different methods of doing so, some by using turbines that look like large propellers, others have survivable aquabouys floating on the surface, using the up and down wave motion of the to drive turbines and generate power is then sent to a central grid. In tropical areas near the equator the surface of the ocean’s water becomes heated, an innovative group of engineers have designed a method of harnessing this heat energy into power using a generator on a floating platform and some very large pipes, to make electricity when the water cools its sent back to the ocean to heat up again, always being recycled. Geothermal heat, is that which dwells deep beneath the earth’s service for this method of energy conversion, deep holes are drilled in five or 6000 feet into the earth where it connects with thermally heated water, natural pressure brings his water through the pipe to the station that converts it into power, then sends the water back, to be reheated.
Solar power is one we are all familiar with, having been around for many years, its application is becoming more prevalent as the photovoltaic panels are more efficient. These days wind power from giant wind turbine farms goes to producing electricity, rather and powering a mechanical grinding mill, its then sent to a central collecting station, now there are personal wind turbines around perfect for places where bylaws allow. Wind turbines have been in place, especially in Europe for at the least 25 years.
Another method of energy conversion has been devised, collecting methane from deteriorating garbage, that can be turned into energy, then it can be used in all kinds of applications. With all these energy-saving, energy collecting devices, and reusable resources, the future can be less reliant upon fossil fuels. Energy efficient homes will become a normal necessity as populations increase demand for energy increases, with the demand for food, It is foreseeable that one day, each home can provide its own power, be fuel and water efficient, running with very low carbon emissions algae powered vehicles, solar heated water and wind/sun powered electricity, all running in harmony, what a shame, we wait for conditions to become practically critical in order to implement them.
The old-style electric power stations are an inefficient use of fossil fuels as an extraordinary amount of energy is simply wasted, the cooling towers blow away heat/power that could be harnessed in fact, over two thirds of the energy that is put into them is wasted.
In thermodynamic terms you can run an engine on heat if you have a warm reservoir and a cold reservoir, a heat engine is simply a very conventional system where boiling a working fluid that is then run through a turbine, the turbine is connected to a generator and it makes electricity, after it runs through the turbine, it gets in touch with the cold water and it condenses back to liquid. It’s very simple conceptually and it uses the fact that heated liquid flows to cold to run this engine. “One of the by-products of the condensation is fresh water, if the system is open-cycle, meaning the working fluid is seawater. In a closed-cycle system, which typically uses ammonia as the working fluid, fresh water is not produced, but the size of the turbine can be significantly smaller, reducing capital costs.
Fuel Alternatives one day will not be so alternative.
